What we put on our skin goes straight into our bodies. For that reason we need to pay attention not only to what we eat but what we wash and cleanse with, what we use in our bath (especially as bubble bath for kids), what we condition our hair or moisturize our skin with and what we use for sun protection. (Mercola.com says not to use sunscreen and get the benefits of Vitamin D from the sun). Certain products are not required to list their full ingredients, making it difficult to be fully informed.

Skin Deep Cosmetics Database, (from EWG), contains the full ingredients of many cosmetic products (Makeup, Eye care, Babies & Moms, Nails, Oral Care, Hair, etc) in their database and explains whether they contain carcinogens or other harmful ingredients. Here is Skin Deep's Database link:

When these harmful chemical ingredients gets into our bodies via cosmetics there's possibilities for subtle changes that disrupts the hormonal system and thereby possibly may effect our emotions and may build up over time, emotionally and physically, in our bodies.

Environmental Working Group has much helpful information on safe products and includes Bottled Water 2011, Our Food, Health/Toxics, Cell Phone Radiation Report, 2010 Sunscreen Guide, Consumer Products, Our Water, and Farm Subsidies. Here is their link: http://www.ewg.org/

So many products are labeled "natural" or "organic" when they actually have carcinogenic, ingredients that disrupt our hormonal system, and other harmful ingredients in them because this industry is not regulated with closely watched standards (yet). Whole Foods was forced to take down their products labeled deceiving "natural" or "organic" when they weren't. To be labeled truly "certified organic" there are vigorous and costly testing that must be submitted.

The following website is a private company that explains Certified Organic Label Guide and provides information on organic products.
